Call For Volunteers – Join The Water Quality Crew!
Published: July 15, 2020
Looking for a fun way to enjoy the outdoors?
How about volunteering to be on a boat and in the sunshine while you contribute to scientific understanding of the Severn River?
We have a ‘job’ for you!
Consider volunteering to become a member of our water quality monitoring program. We always need helping hands and boat captains to keep our river-wide water quality monitoring program rolling along.
SRA’s 2020 Water Quality Monitoring program is sponsored the Delaplaine Foundation.
Volunteering to become a citizen scientist as a member of the WQ Crew is a great way to meet friends, spend a morning on the river and get a first-hand appreciation of what’s happening in your waterway.
We are Covid-safe. Crews wear masks, keep distance and still we get our work done and enjoy a great morning on the river!
Here’s a few pics of our WQ Crew hard at “work.”
We have room for crew on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
Each tour is about three hours long.
SRA is certified by the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative as a Tier 2 monitoring organization. The data you collect is shared with the scientific and regulatory communities via the Chesapeake Data Explorer.
To join in the fun, send an email to Info@severnriver.org and put WQ Crew in the message box.
