Welcome To SRA’s New Science And Development Staff

Please give a very warm welcome to Emi McGeady, who has joined the SRA staff as our Field Investigator and to Suzanne Martin, who is now leading our fundraising program as our new Development Director.

Emi is a 2020-2021 Chesapeake Conservation Corps (CCC) member who joins the SRA staff thanks to a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, which created the CCC 11 years ago to help young scientists develop their environmental sciences careers.

Emi’s first assignment with SRA is to lead our water quality monitoring program and help our volunteers assess the health of our river.

She’ll also help develop our new Floating Classroom educational program that gives students a hands-on learning experiences on the Severn River.

Emi comes well prepared to lead our science-based programs. She’s a graduate from the University of North Carolina where she majored in Environmental Sciences with minors in Marine Sciences and Chemistry.

She lead a research project using drones to analyze forest characteristics and a re-forestation project in Eastern Kentucky, but she is excited to get back on the water!

Give Emi a wave and a hello when you see her on the water leading our water quality tours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

Development Director – Suzanne Martin

We’d also like to welcome Suzanne Martin to the SRA Team as our new Development Director. Suzanne joined SRA this month to create a more robust fundraising, event and development program to lead SRA into the next decade!

Suzanne comes to us after working in development for the Alliance For The Chesapeake Bay, the Arundel Rivers Federation and The Key School. She also served as Executive Director of Unity Gardens.
